I   AM   P L A S T A

My name is ANTONIO COLOMBINI, originally Italian, Portuguese by adoption since 2014.

I’m deeply passionate about music, cinema and photography.

I have a dark electronic solo project called SONOPLASTA, so in 2019 I decided to name my photographic alter-ego FOTOPLASTA, focusing mainly on female portraiture and concerts/shows documentation with a cinematic touch:

MUSIC TO YOUR EYES + LIGHT TO YOUR EARS

Sonoplastia (sound shaping) is the Portuguese word used to designate conceptual sound design as the process of sound molding to create sound effects, soundscapes and musical ambients. A person who practices the art of sonoplastia is known as “sonoplasta”.

I love to shape sound and light for they are waves that vibrate around us.

In 2019, I first met the dark wave band VELVET KILLS and took pictures of their live at Fabrica Braço de Prata (Lisbon). After that an art collaboration and friendship had grown up: shooting some photo sessions, filming their music video “IN THE GOLD MINE” and the making of for “BITCH FACE”.

On October 2020, thanks to the precious help of Atelier de Lisboa, I self-published a photo book called “A FABRIC CAUGHT IN THE ACT” and inspired by their imagery.

I took on the role of filming and directing the photography for the music videos “BELA LUGOSI’S DEAD REMIX” (2022 – over 100.000 views on YouTube) and “NADA” (2024) by the electronic duo CHRIS SHAPE & SU EKO.

In 2024 I photographed the set of the short-movie “NOCTURNAL CHEETAH” directed by ANA SOARES.

“Like films
we are impressed
by sudden shots
of life.

Like films
we are blurred
by the turbid sight
of feelings.

Like films
we are overexposed
to the distorted light
of thought.

Like films
we are imprisoned
in a foreign body
before being developed
in the darkroom
of fate.

Like films
let’s pose!”
